Making mistakes

I decided to try something new in the past few days.  Paint painterly and loosely.  I decided to be brave trying a new style.  A style  I hope to make  my own someday..  Indeed it is my own since it is the style that comes out naturally.  I have been trying to paint in a 'perfect' way, obsessed with the detail.  As a result I have been producing stiff paintings (certainly not perfect) like if there was such a thing.  As far as I am concern there is not such a thing as perfect art.  There is beautiful art. No only  my work was not flowing naturally  but it was also lacking technique.  In other words the more I try and obsess with the perfect detail, the less beautifully I deliver..

So yesterday I decided to paint spontaneously, make mistakes (why not?) and mostly have fun.  I am not investing more than two hours in each piece and after that time, I move to something else.  That means also knowing when to stop.  All very new for me.  The result?  I really like what is happening.  I know I am on the right track.  Yeyyy.!!!!

I do not know for sure how this 'new style' will sell.  I am pretty convinced. though, that when I deliver spontaneous work, it has more 'soul' it communicate the message better.  It should connect better.    I am willing to try anyway.  I am not being afraid about making mistakes.  I like what is happening.  I am having fun!

I will be posting these exercises soon!

Creativity is allowing yourself to make mistakes. Art is knowing which ones to keep
