Creativity is a process, just as any journey is, just as happiness is, just as life is. We have to know this and learn to enjoy this process from where we are. We do not have to be in a specific place or reach a specific state to start this process. Having fun with it, even more than discipline itself will make this journey more productive. Creativity is a walk. A walk that lasts as long as we last. It is a walk that starts here, right now, wherever you are wherever I am. As we enjoy it, as we cultivate, it gets bigger, and we grow as artists. We never stop getting more creative. We do if we get stuck. Then we have to go back to having fun in this walk and creativity will reappear. Personally I am convinced that the aspect 'fun' is crucial in this journey. It also involve a lot of changes. Fun will make them easier and less scary.
About this journey, from the Artist Way, Julia Cameron:
Creativity involves process, and process involves change. The truism we often hear is that we often resist change because change is difficult or change is painful. In the same way, It is resistance to our creativity that causes us to equate it with suffering. it is important to now that 'effort' and 'suffering' are two different things.
